Dan Boucher - French Canadian Fiddling

Tous beau coup apprecie un inspirational soiree avec fiddler Dan Boucher!

The Quiet Corner Fiddlers got a real treat last night with Dan Boucher - French Canadian Fiddler - who lead our sessions workshop!   In attendance were: Rosaire, Steve, Alan, Saul, Kathy, Matt, Joan, Esperanza, Ken, Don, Paul, and one man who plays only by ear but I didn't catch his name --along with many friends and family of Rosaire!    Dan gave us a brief account of his love and years of dedication to French Canadian  music -- he said it is all that he plays.   Rosaire was eager to get the group playing and treated us to one of his favorites --- "tu-tu" or "ti' Tur" which we learned also goes by the title Reel d'Artur or "Arthur's Reel"   After listening to Rosaire play - Dan decided that, if slowed down a bit, we might just be able to pick the tune up.    Dan painstakingly dissected  the tune measure for measure.  With great patience, he lead us through portions of the tune over and over until we could play part A then part B successfully.  Dan & Rosaire's "tap les pieds"  kept a steady rhythm going all night long.

We ended the evening with the group playing Tu Tu while Rosaire delighted us with a jig.   Many thanks to Wanda and Rosaire for securing the room and providing refreshments.  Dan never seemed to tire of playing - he continued on past 9pm while taking time to speak with  everyone afterwards about his plans to keep French Canadian music alive.   He is planning a Christmas fiddle jam party for Dec. 15 in his hometown just outside of Bristol CT and passed out invitations.  Dan also has a Maple Sugar Party in the works for early March. We all were sorry that Chuck and Noreen could not make it to the workshop -- hope you are feeling better ASAP Chuck.     We will meet at Chuck and Noreen's next Tues. Nov. 24 -- 7-8:30pm.  See you there!  My best, Amanda
